Braves Prepare For Chance At First Sweep of 2010

Posted by Kris N. on April 8, 2010

Preview: Cubs (0 – 2) vs. Braves (2 – 0)

The Atlanta Braves start the season off with perfection. A 16 – 5 whooping in the first game and a 3 – 2 squeaker in the former. Chipper Jones wrapped up those 2 games best with a quote about the tenacity of the Braves:

“We can slug with you like we did the first day, and win games late like we did tonight.”

– Chipper Jones

The Cubs look to Randy Wells to stop the Braves’ early success. Well’s went 12 – 10 with a 2.95 ERA and a 1.28 whip, and he was a clear candidate for the ROY award. But so was Tommy Hanson, who takes the ball (and a broom) tonight against the Cubs in hope  to complete the first sweep of the 2010 season.

Should Be A Low Scoring Affair, 1 Run Game Likely

We remember Randy Wells right? That kid who pitched a perfect game until Yunel Escobar broke it up with an Oscar nominated performance of “Ouch! Ouch! I got hit with a ball!” and took 1B. And continued with a no hitter until Chipper Jones laced a single into shallow left center field. No? Well I’ll spoil it for ya. Jeff Francoeur hit a 2 run shot off Gregg, and The Braves beat the Cubs’ bullpen in the 12th.

Let’s just hope that continues tonight. (The winning thing, not being shut down by Wells)

This will be Hanson first start of 2010, I expect nothing but good to great things from him.

  • Heyward has great bat speed
  • Glaus is off to a disappointing start
  • Chipper is nothing short off amazing
  • I hate the Cubs and their pretentious fans
  • Melky Cabrera gets only a few more chances before he gets the boot as a starter
